My personal philosophy statements pertaining to the education experience of Diverse Learners.
ELLs learn best while being around the new language as much as possible. They should be pulled out in order to have the supports they need in learning the language properly, bust still have a lot of time in the general education classroom.
I plan to work with ELLs and diverse learners in my future classroom by building relationships with them and making them feel comfortable. A safe classroom is the best way to show them that there are people who care about them and what they are going through. I want my students to know they can talk to me about anything and understand that I want what is best for them.
I believe that my own level of cultural competence and cultural responsivity will keep growing the more experiences I have with diverse learners. Having a safe classroom environment, where my students can feel as if they be open in my classroom to myself and their peers, will help being culturally responsive. I want to keep my future classroom, prejudice free and racially blind.
